RUSSIAN SAGE is a lilting solo that is filled with teachable moments for early intermediate students. Block the left hand chords before playing them in the waltz pattern style and then be sure to play beats 2 and 3 very lightly. The right hand has a number of grace notes along with dotted rhythms and arpeggio patterns. This short piece is jammed packed with opportunities to teach and review important concepts.
