QUIET REFLECTION is a grounded, restful and thoughtful harp solo from Anne Crosby Gaudet’s album, Áine’s Dream. Its flowing left-hand arpeggios support a melody that invites you to settle into the sound and give each phrase time to unfold.
The last piece composed for the album, Quiet Reflection holds a few quiet connections to the music that came before it. References to three other pieces from Áine’s Dream are woven into its melodies, waiting for you to discover them as you listen and play.
Written in F Mixolydian, with two flats in the key signature, this early-intermediate solo requires a large harp. The accompanying performance video offers a helpful view of Anne’s approach to the left-hand arpeggios, showing how comfortably these patterns can flow.
For a lovely pairing, follow Quiet Reflection with When Morning Comes. The transition from F Mixolydian to B-flat major carries the listener from restful reflection into a feeling of hope and lightness.
