NO FRIEND LIKE MUSIC is an intermediate lever harp solo by Anne Crosby Gaudet. It was inspired by the poem of the same name by D. W. Hicky (1900-1976).
"No friend like music when the heart is broken, To mend its wings and give it flight again;"
This late intermediate harp solo is in the key of C Mixolydian (B flat) and requires several quick E lever changes, which create interesting harmonic colors. You will need to have your harp tuned to E flat major. The nimble 6/8 meter captures a light and uplifting character.
This piece was originally released in the 2017 collection, Remembrance. It has since been revised as a single solo to include expressive phrase markings, improved layout and courtesy fingering.
