LILAC AND LAVENDER was a special request, where I was asked to use the scent of lilacs as inspiration. Imagine the soft, fragrant lilac. For me it sounds like an FMaj7 chord, which became the basis of the composition. I also hint at the folk song Lavender Blue to help pair the lilac and lavender.

This is an excellent choice for early intermediate players. The 1-3-5-7 pattern may be a new addition to your technique. Practice reading in the higher range of the treble clef and learn how to navigate repeat signs.

Painting textures in Music

Anne, I purchased this piece & have loved it since you released it! My patients & residents love it, too, and a lovely assisted living resident said, “I can hear the lavender in the beautiful textures… it’s like painting with music.” Thank you for the lush sounds & richness you bring through the harp with these 1-3-5-7 patterns! I sing a little of Lavender’s Blue as an introduction.

Wouldn't it be interesting to do a harp and aromatherapy combination! I love that you share my music with your patients almost as quickly as I write them! - Anne

Beautiful composition

This song is amazing. It was easy to learn and I had it memorized in one day.
It is beautiful and has featured 1-5-8 and 1-3-5 patterns in the left hand. Simple to learn quick.y yet provides such a terrific melody and is full enough to not be boring to the ear. Although all of Anne’s music is written so thoughtfully that you almost don’t realize that she is teaching within the music. I bought this piece the day she released it and learned it in one day. A very nice late beginner piece.

Love hearing those success stories! That's wonderful, Sharon!
