I'm an adult learner on and off for the past 9 years! Getting the harp at 50yrs old was my first instrument. The hardest thing, of which I still struggle enormously, is READING MUSIC. Although I can teach myself basic elementary level pieces I still have to write the notes on the score and only memorising will give me any kind of flow to a piece.
I bought this music not only as it sounds lovely and is an original piece but for the different levels of notation. Love love love the letters in the notes themselves and the coloured C's and F's help too. I really would appreciate more music score like this as well.
I watched your video right through and the thumb slide is a new technique for me and still needs some practice but I can already just about play section A through at all levels. Really pleased with myself.
My friend's daughter has just got her first harp (already plays piano and reads music) and I've pointed her in this direction as your video give invaluable technique instruction, would be cool to play it together. Thanks a million.
Thank you so much for the thoughtful review! I've done a few songs now with alpha notes and color support. I'm glad to hear that's helpful! 'Hand in Hand' and 'In the Clouds' would be similar. Warm wishes, Anne
Ann, this song is very special to me; it is the very first song I learned on the harp thanks to your tutorial. I want to memorize it, and I've been successful in some areas. As an adult learner, it is interesting that in some sections, memorizing came easily to me while others are still hit and miss in the memory bank (ha! ha!). You are my idol! I feel as if I know you personally because when you talk, I feel as if you are talking only to me. You are a treasure, and I wish you continued success and good health with many blessings in 2023.
Thank you for the lovely review, Alice! I'm glad you have enjoyed learning 'Just For You' as your first song. Hopefully they'll be many more to come! - Anne
Very beautiful piece, it is very easy to learn. I am a 6 month old beginner. This was the 1st piece I was learning with Level 3 (chord 1-3-5). Clear, airy score with accompanying lesson. I appreciate the fingering inscription as well as the brackets. This allowed me to understand what they are used for with your video (lesson). Thank you for giving us such valuable sheet music and lessons.
Wonderful, I'm so pleased that 'Just For You' has been helpful! - Anne
At age 70, this is the piece that brought me back to learning the harp. If you love what you play, or are learning to play, you will love even practice sessions.
Thank you Anne for, not only bringing me back to my harp, but also making me want to practice with good form! Your compositions and Lessons keep encouraging me to practice and play several times a day, everyday - but with the knowledge of why good harp form is necessary - love all the 'teaching moments'
Please keep posting teaching moment and including them in your work, especially for smaller harps - I have both 19 and a 29 string and seem to always find music written for 34 strings or larger - until I discovered you on You Tube.
This is wonderful to hear! And thank you for the nudge to keep going with the mini-lessons, so glad they are helpful! Best wishes, Anne.
Thank you for such a lovely harp piece! As you stated, this would be perfect for a harp circle, with different levels of harpers...
In answer to your query...yes, I would love more harp music with beginning, early intermediate and intermediate levels included in each piece!
Thank you, Darlene! I know of a few harp circles that use 'Just For You' in their regular repertoire. Thanks for the nudge to create more multi-level pieces. - Anne
