Create a shimmering, ethereal sound with DRAGONFLY, a late intermediate harp solo. To achieve its delicate, nimble character, play lightly on the strings with precise placement. Let the left-hand melody sing while maintaining effortless, flowing fingerwork for a magical and silvery effect.

This is delightful to play. I'm memorising it, which makes it easier to play faster. Just been outside, it's 96 degrees here and the dragonflies are skimming about looking for mosquitoes, bless them. Very inspiring to come back inside and do some more practice on this very imaginative piece.
Thanks Jane! That’s such a wonderful connection between music and nature! Thank you for sharing your experience—imagining dragonflies in motion while playing must make it even more fun. I’m so glad you’re enjoying Dragonfly, and memorizing it sounds like a great way to bring out its energy. - Anne
This piece is quite magical. A park near me has a lovely pond with lots of dragonflies.....this piece puts me right there. The little interlude in the middle is the quiet space after a dragonfly settles on a leaf, & you become aware of the light breeze in the bulrushes.
It's quite a challenge to get the right hand both light and even.....worth the effort though.
Thank you Anne.
