I discovered this beautiful song while browsing through an old collection of Scottish folk songs. Originally written by Scottish poet, Robert Tannahil, this tune was the inspiration for the famous “Wild Mountain Thyme” by Francis McPeake. Play this piece very slowly with expressive attention to the phrasing of the words. Let the music breathe and enjoy the rich harmonies.
The Braes of Balquhidder was originally released in the Harvest Suite collection, but is now available as a single solo digital download.
